The Skittles Tournament was a tradition in Horley some 55 years ago to raise funds for the Anderson Swimming Pool (now closed) but over time it came to an end.
In the 1990’s, Horley Lions Club purchased the equipment and have run the Skittles Tournament ever since. This attracts teams from Companies, Clubs, Pubs, Sports establishments etc.
A separate competition is held each evening from Monday to Friday on a week in June in which 16 teams of 6 players compete to win the trophy. Every team should play a minimum of 3 matches in their league before the Final is played that same night. Yes, there is an element of competition, but at the end of the day it is a community event designed to be fun.
The cost is only £36 per team and there is no restriction on the number of teams that you enter. This is a popular event which is often over-subscribed so apply early to avoid disappointment.
We will give you three weeks notice of the day you will play.
We are fortunate to have the continuing support of the Horley Cricket Club who kindly agree to let us use their ground. A full bar will be run by the Cricket Club whilst the Lions will additionally man their BBQ so there will be no need to eat before bowling.
